It’s only since the death of their father, pop legend Michael Jackson, that his children have been able to rip off their coverings and appear unashamedly in public. And I bet it’s doing them a world of good!

No more secrecy, coddling, hiding, and paranoia. No more blankets, towels, sheets, drapes, and masks.

In full view, Paris touchingly spoke at dad’s memorial in July, and she and Prince Michael appeared at the Grammys last Sunday to charmingly accept a special tribute for him.

I’m sure they miss daddy and some of the fun games he played, but there must also be a bittersweet sense of relief that they can finally throw away their freak umbrellas and be seen and heard without fear or self-consciousness.

M’S KIDS TO RECITE SPECIAL POEM ON WATW

MICHAEL JACKSON’s three children will “narrate” an introduction to the revamped WE ARE THE WORLD charity anthem.

Prince and Paris, who accepted the King of Pop’s Lifetime Achievement Award on their late father’s behalf at the Grammy Awards on Sunday (31Jan10), have recorded a poem and some special words for the re-release of the 1985 USA For Africa hit, which has been re-recorded to aid the Haiti earthquake relief effort.

Little brother Blanket, who was too nervous to take the stage at the Grammys, has joined them.

A family insider tells WENN, “They wanted to put a special message on the song—a message that echoes everything their father wanted for the world.”

MJ’s Kids Approached for ‘We Are the World’ Remake

There is a chance that Michael Jackson’s children will be involved in “We Are the World” charity effort for the Haitian. Co-producer Quincy Jones who works on the project along with RedOne recently admitted about planning to recruit the kids for the cause.

The late King of Pop’s children will be asked by the producer to read a poem at the end of the star-studded song, according to Entertainment Tonight. The poem is written by Maya Angelou at the request of Michael’s mother, Katherine Jackson.

On top of that, MTV reported Lionel Richie has talked with Janet Jackson about her contribution. The singer, who once collaborated with Michael in the original song, said Janet hits studio Tuesday, February 2 to sing her rendition of Michael’s verses.
